The perfect shape for whole chicken recipes and GREAT for simply ‘ROASTING’, too!, 28 Feb 2007

My current favourite recipe in this sized ‘pot’ is:-

‘Tarragon Roasted Chicken’ (2 kg, serving 6-8)

from page 17, of The Cast Iron Way to Cook by Sue Cutts, who says:-

‘You might never have considered the possibility of using a covered casserole as a roasting pan, but it works exceptionally well, producing a moist, succulent bird with a golden, crisp skin. While the chicken is resting before being carved, the bottom of the casserole can be used on the hob to make a delicious tarragon-flavoured cream sauce….’

Easy to use and clean by hand, although some soaking and a rub with a plastic brush may be required to shift the more stubborn baked-on food remains.
Dishwasher safe.
Sturdily boxed, comes complete with CAST IRON use/care instruction booklet.

After years looking at other people’s Le Creuset cookware, we finally decided to go for it. This casserole is big enough to feed six hungry people. We have an old wood burning stove which was underused, the main reason being it is difficult to maintain a constant temperature for cooking, often resulting in undercooked or burnt results. This casserole dish solved that problem, as the cast iron spreads the heat evenly and does all the work… put it in and forget about it till dinner time! Now the family call to ask if there will be a Le Creuset casserole on the table for them when they come over… A great investment!

The grille pan arrived on time, it does what its says on the tin but the enamel was already missing in one of the corners, as this is not an ornament and it does not stop me from grilling my Sunday breakfast it is not a very big issue with me but my Wife was a little disgusted when it first arrived. (She’s got over it now).

The grillpan arrived with the corners damaged/missing paint and the chrome insert was flimsy and ill fitting. I informed the seller of my opinion and he didn’t even bother to reply. I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a substantial/quality replacement to the manufacturers original

This review may be a little biased, as I am coming from a set of cookware (that I’ve owned for more than 10 years) that is of a thin steel and very light weight construction. So to hold something in your hands that has a nice heavy feel and sense of quality to it, is amazing!!

I’ve tried cooking a number of things in them, from baked beans to making sauces and they are awesome, heating up very quickly and retaining the heat well.

So now I’m waiting for Amazon to deliver the rest of the pieces to complete my complete collection of this range!!

These scales were a huge upgrade for me as I always used to traditional balancing scales but really wanted a change! These scales fit the role perfectly; they are so easy to use. Very easy to change between different measurements i.e. oz’s or ml’s, even my 8 year old can use them too! I love the fact you can also measure liquid as well as volume which saves on getting jugs out etc so less washing up, would highly recommend!
